2015 Charity Events

Mass Biotech Charity Events
  • 2nd Annual Home Run Derby at Fenway Park (August 29, 2015) - This is your opportunity to try to hit one over the Green Monster and win fabulous Red Sox related prizes! This event is open to players, family members, friends, and coworkers of the Mass Biotech Softball League (minimum age: 10 years). To participate, a $80 minimum tax-deductible donation needs to be made to the Red Sox Foundation. This event is limited to the first 200 registrants. To register visit, redsoxfoundation.org/donate (use the drop down menu "Program/Event" and indicate Mass Biotech Derby).

This event is open to players, family members, friends, and coworkers of the Mass Biotech Softball League (minimum age: 10 years). To participate, a $75 minimum tax-deductible donation needs to be made to the Red Sox Foundation. This event is limited to the first 200 registrants.

2013 Charity Events

Volunteer Opportunities
  • Greater Boston Food Bank (May 4th, 2013) The Greater Boston Food Bank's mission is to help end hunger in eastern Massachusetts. To achieve our mission, The Food Bank feeds more than 320,000 people annually in nine counties in eastern Massachusetts.


  • National Braille Press (October 26th, 2013) Our league will be volunteering on Saturday, October 26th, from 10am-2pm at the National Braille Press in Boston. We would love to get 24 volunteers to help put together Braille books for children. It's very simple. Basically, after a brief tour of the press & learning about what they do, our group will be collating the Braille pages into the children's book. It's simple, easy, and fun! Lunch will be served.


Other Mass Biotech Softball League Endorsed Events
  • 2013 Battle of the Biotech Bands (June 12, 2013, 6-10pm) - A fun, community-building and networking event filled with music by bands from your favorite biotech companies to benefit each band's charity of choice. This year the charities are: Compassionate Care ALS, Cradles to Crayons, and the Jolane Solomon Research Fund at Boston College.

Volunteer Opportunities
  • National Braille Press (May 1, 2010) - For the third year in a row our league will be volunteering on Saturday, May 1st, from 10am-2pm at the National Braille Press in Boston. We would love to get 24 volunteers to help put together Braille books for children. It's very simple. Basically, after a brief tour of the press & learning about what they do, our group will be collating the Braille pages into the children's book. It's simple, easy, and fun! Lunch will be served.

Volunteer Opportunities
  • Painting at United South End Settlement Harriet Tubman House (USES) (May 17, 2009) - All Mass Biotech Softball League participants, co-workers, family, and friends are encouraged to volunteer. We will be painting the interior railings in their foyer, so with a good sized group, it shouldn’t take much time.


  • National Braille Press’s Vision 5K Run & Walk at Boston College (June 7, 2009) - All Mass Biotech Softball League participants, co-workers, family, and friends are encouraged to volunteer. We will be helping out at the 5k. Tasks will be assigned by the coordinators at the National Braille Press. Duties may include working at water stops, help directing runners and walkers at the finish line, posting the race times, etc.

2008 Charity Events

Mass Biotech Charity Events
  • Rally Against Cancer (April 8, 2008) - 21 Mass Biotech Softball League participants, co-workers, family, and friends joined the Massachusetts Biotech Softball League Rally Against Cancer Team, raising over 1,200 dollars for the Jimmy Fund, and wearing their Red Sox gear on the day of the Red Sox home opener at Fenway Park. Special Thanks to Agnieszka Barnes and Rob Ferragamo, who both made extremely generous donations.
Volunteer Opportunities
  • Make Children’s Braille Books (May 10, 2008)- The Mass Biotech Softball league assembled a team of 13 league participants, co-workers, family, and friends to volunteer at National Braille Press on Saturday May 10th, 2008. The Mass Biotech softball volunteer team helped make 300 braille copies of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs".


  • Fantasy Day at Fenway Park (June 28, 2008) to Benefit the Jimmy Fund


  • Food Sorting (July 12, 2008) to Benefit the Greater Boston Food Bank.


  • Farm Work (August 10, 2008) to Benefit Waltham Community Farm Outreach.
